Professor Rym Ayadi, participated to the banking resolution panel on its preparatory meeting for the public hearing with the Chair of the Single Resolution Board, organized by the ECON Committee.

Pr. Ayadi presented the conclusions of the paper co-authored with Pr. G. Ferri and Pr. R. Lastra on “Carving out legacy assets: a successful tool for bank restructuring?”.

At a time when the Single Resolution Board is designing the resolution plans of banks under its remits, a retrospective analysis of the successes or failures of bank restructuring in Europe may help drawing conclusions as to the feasibility and robustness of different resolution strategies.

Pr. Ayadi was also invited to comment on the recent proposal by the Chairman of the European Banking Authority regarding the creation of a Euro area-wide bad bank.
